Spring 2012 Task Programme

Sunday 8th January         Bore Place,  Bowzell’s Lane,  Chiddingstone
Working with John Waller on the Commonwork Estate..  Willow harvesting and clearing self sown “weed” trees near the brick works. Meet at Bore Place car park over the cattle grid on the right at the end of the entrance lane. OS 188 Grid Ref 505490. 

Sunday 22nd January          St Julian’s Country Club, Sevenoaks.

Attack cherry laurel and rhododendron in a new area of this steeply wooded site.
Free delicious lunch available from the restaurant.
OS 188 Grid Ref 547528. Heading south on A225 out of Sevenoaks, after approx 1 mile from town centre just after brow of hill, take left turn towards Knole Park. St Julian’s signposted on right after 0.75 mile. Meet part way down the driveway in a small car park on the right.

Leaders Lynne and Pete Flower.   Winter pruning the old apple orchard, hedge pruning and other associated tasks .   Small step ladders and secateurs may be useful, if you are able to bring any along.

Sunday 19th February             Birchwood, Bidborough Ridge.
Birch thinning and possibly some path restoration work with David Counsel and Peter Riley of the Local Residents Association.

Sunday 4th March       Tudeley RSPB site
We will join with the RSPB volunteers meeting at Tudeley with warden Mathew Allen. Meet in the RSPB car park off Dislingbury (otherwise known as Half Moon) Lane off A21 by Shell Garage near Pembury. Grid Ref. OS188 617435.

Working with John Waller on the Commonwork Estate. Elm coppicing. Meet at Bore Place car park over the cattle grid on the right at the end of the entrance lane. OS 188 Grid Ref 505490.

Sunday 1st April       Chiddingstone Reserve - Kent Wildlife Trust.
Leader Stephen Lemon.  The site is an old brick works which is now established woodland. Various tasks which Stephen will decide on the day.

OS 188 Grid Ref 511468.  Meet at yard next to Brickyard Cottage, 1 mile west of Penshurst railway station on north side of the B2027.

Extra event.
