Working with KWT volunteers on this north Kent downland site northwest of Otford 7 STCV volunteers helped to create a new permissive pathway from Fackenden Lane towards the Pilgrims Way. Several metres of downland has been reclaimed for traditional grazing, by fencing along the line of an old footpath. The fence and creation of an alternative footpath will limit scrub encroachment in the future.
Our job involved cutting, dragging and burning seemingly endless amounts of tangled hawthorn, blackthorn and wayfaring trees onto several bonfires as we moved along the path followed by a KWT member using a brushcutter to tidy up the leftovers
